Aughris head, Dunmoran strand. Sligo’s Shangri La.

Aughris Head, also known as the Sligo’s Shangri La, is one of the most beautiful discovery points on the Wild Atlantic Way. Once found, it’s a magical place where you can imagine being lost in a Tibetan valley secure both from the world and from you, full of adventure.  The kids can have the run of the beach and search rock pools for “lost treasure” in the form of sea shells, unusual stones and crustaceans.

The Beach Bar Surf School run by Andy Hughes, who has been teaching for over ten years, caters from ages 8 up to 60. As it gets later in the evening and you’ve explored this earthy escape and got your appetite going, enjoy a freshly cooked meal and unwind in the Beach Bar.  The food is really good and prides itself on using locally sourced ingredients. You can also enjoy live music on Saturday, from Rock and Country to Traditional.

Tourism in Sligo is expanding and becoming more adventurous, Aughris Head offers several types of accommodation, from tents, caravans to a modern B&B.  All facilities are available, such as Wi-Fi, tv and showers. Whichever accommodation type suits your needs, you will feel home.
